This is a strange and odd one. I am myself from Norway, so not local to your area at all, but I thought to reach out on a whim on behalf of a user that lives in Port Moody.
I am an Ars Technica member and I have been so for soon 27 years.
This user is an older woman 75+ with an ancient Windows 7 computer, i7-2600/12GB and she has been told that she needs to either update or move to Linux, so I guess due to money constraints, Linux it is, but she does not have the technical knowledge to backup her old computer or install Linux on it, which is why I am reaching out there. She has no idea I am writing this topic, but thought to at least try as my heart breaks when I understand her situation and she has no one around her. I am volunteering here in Norway for people that does not have the means or the ability to fix or pay for support, but I am too far away ![]()
I am basically asking if anyone in her local area could take care of her as she seems to be alone and has not been lucky with previous paid help.
I cannot post links as a new user, but you can find the thread at ars technica forums, then CPU forum with title Linux Mint.
Thank you for reading, it was worth a try at least
I am “Slothur” over there.
