Bugs abound since Cosmic Desktop is STILL a BETA, and they classified their latest distro as an LTS … despite the Beta.
Cosmic is the “heaviest” desktop in Linux.
There are also memory leaks.
Best to use Mint, Fedora, or CachyOS, or something else altogether.
I think all this would make a worthy research paper, so we can get some recent research in to how people use computers, solve problems and work out how to use things. However given the free software eco system you could spend several million dollars on this, and some of the OS distributions would simply ignore this research.
People who develop distros, in some cases are simply not listening and it is then left to user groups to pick up the pieces when users struggle, it is usually us that get the critism as to what is wrong, or get told of bad / rude, unhelpful experiences on forums, so by the time they get to a user group, the damage is done.
I agree with the video on popOS, why are they using a beta front end with an OS that is aimed at beginners? Sure, have a branch to test things, but the main \distribution should have a consistent interface that others can help with.
(This) Linus [LTT] is now a meme with PopOS. Gives Linux a chance → use PopOS. Years later, gives it another chance? PopOS again. In 10 years, he will give it ‘another chance’ and he still chooses PopOS.
