Disclaimer: provided as-is, worked last time I used it, but no warranties - always stored in clean and dry place.
Suitable for home lab, testing, learning. My only ask is that you use it to learn and that you share your learning back with the VanLUG group, and that you gift it forward to another community members if you no longer need it.

- RAM: Supports DDR3 ECC RAM - no DIMMs included as I used them for another build.
- Storage: 8x 2.5in SAS/SATA Drive Bays - all caddies included with screws, but no drives included. Storage Controller: PERC 6/i with 256MB cache - not sure about the state of the battery backup at this time
- Network: 4-port embedded Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709c Gigabit Ethernet NIC
- DVD slot replaced with a slim SATA caddy to use as a boot drive (had SSD in it) - have original DVD drive
- PSU: single 750W (can support 2 PSU)
- Remote Management: iDRAC6 Enterprise - activated - with dedicated management ethernet port
- Bezel included (unlocked, no key)
- Form Factor: Rackmount 2U
Needs:
- DDR3 ECC Memory - 2 populated cpu sockets mean you’ll need at least 2 DIMMs
- Storage: 2.5in SAS/SATA drive(s) - but you can still boot from a USB drive
- Standard power cord
This is a typical Enterprise 2U server, expect it to be loud (40db-70db based on load). Also, don’t expect high-performance and power efficient by today’s standard, but it can be great for tinkering and getting exposed to server components if you’re learning. Note this server is heavy - plan for transport. While the server is free, electricity usually isn’t ![]()
