Hi VanLUG,
I’ve installed Fedora 44 on my primary laptop with the goal to learn it and I must say so far, it’s been all friction and celebration, both at the same time. I’m enjoying the challenge. My goal is not to make Linux like Windows, but to understand where there are equivalences and where things are just different, so that I can adapt to both environments and understand the design rationales when helping other making the same transition. For examples, many keyboard shortcuts works the same - great! Then many things are different - cool! Please bare with me as I’m getting familiar with the naming of components and apps, I’ll get there eventually. I’m also planning to setup Ubuntu (Debian foundation) side-by-side to learn it as well, so please suggest recommendations for both.
- Screenshot - What is the keyboard shortcuts to take a screenshot for a window or region?
- Print Screen – works
- Alt + Print Screen – takes the full screen still, not the active window
- Shift + Print Screen – takes the full screen still, not the region
Also, is there a way to set a built-in timer for the built-in screenshot tool? For example, I need to capture an image of the notification areas, which disappears if I go and select the screenshot tool, and the shortcuts above don’t seem to work for me?
Also, are there more advanced tools you recommend for screen capture for Linux? I’ve used SnagIt on Windows before as a reference, but open to recommendations.
Thanks!
